Many years ago in the UK in malls they had little machines that you put in a few pounds entered your name and you could print out something like 25 cards as pictured above.

The thinking is that he’s well-respected enough by the people in possession of his cards that they wouldn’t mess with him on principle.

I saw a metal business card with a barcode cut into it. The barcode is the guy’s social security number! I think it belongs to the head of Microsoft security…something like that. I said to the friend who got the card from him, “that’s kinda a bad idea…” and he said “would you know what to do with the number?” “No, but somebody else would.” “Trust. It’s about trust. Anyone he’s giving this to isn’t going to f* with him.”

my current business cards are really bad…. i had them printed a few months ago and all the ink is coming off and now they look really ugly!!

Back in the late 90s I had cards which had a cartoon longhair with a computer (ala Gates circa 70’s) on the front, and on the back were lots of cartoon caricatures of folks bashing, or being bashed, by their pcs. I’ll try to find one and email it to you…

The humor and cartoons helped get my Computergeek Services business of the ground. People couldn’t remember me, perhaps, but everybody in this litle town knew about those cards.

“You’re the GEEK!” they would say….

I once got a card from a guy at a science fiction convention that listed his occupation as “Natural Insemination”.
