It is what 70% of the earth's atmosphere is made of. The reason it would "blow up" is because it is a gas at room temperature. Nothing chemical about the explosion, it's called evaporation. We would use this in physics demonstrations to freeze things and smash them for kids. Put gloves on and it is fun to push around the table with your finger because it is riding on a cushion of air.
