Despite the fact that the project isn’t anywhere near getting started and it might never get started due to ongoing litigation by the Tolkien family, fantasy fans are talking about possible casting choices for the Hobbit movie.
Some of the casting possibilities are obvious – Ian McKellen reprising Gandalf and Andy Serkis redoing Gollum. But what is this? Colin Firth as a young Bilbo Baggins? Say it ain’t so!
There’s been talk of turning the Hobbit into a movie since the last Lord of the Rings movie back in 2003. But it has continually been held up due to ongoing litigation against New Line Studios as well as resistance from the Tolkien family.
