Although it was indeed shot in the UK, the brown car homer drives is actually a left-hand-drive car simply so that the driveway scene would work (as he gets out the left side and has to run from Marges car) A friend of mine was in it (he plays the music teacher) and I understand it was originally commissioned by Sky TV – who have the UK rights to show new episodes – and was produced to advertise the show.
