A lot of people (including sales persons I have talked with) forget about the VCR tuner and the new units I see on the shelves do NOT have a tuner. They are just playback units. The problem arises when you finally realize that if you want to tape a program and watch a different one, you have no way to do it (unless you can use your TIVO, etc to record) especially off-the-air programs. How much is a new DVD/VCR unit with a tuner gonna cost? Have seen 1 so far at a discounted price of about 600$. Gone are the days of the 40$ VCR that had a tuner. So now you do need the converter box for this. The coupons will only be good for 90 days from issue (mail date). Make sure that you can buy a box b4 you order your coupons. In my area, the stores "expect" the boxes in the next month or so. Coupons could expire b4 you could use them.

That's a pretty good information. Everything is going digital. Feels like 'The Matrix'
