Many have predicted this for years: The Internet is slowly moving away from the PC and is progressively entering the living room. Google knows this.
Starting early spring 2008, some Panasonic television models will have network connectivity, allowing people to view YouTube videos or stream Picasa pictures on their large display.
The only thing that remains to be seen is how good will these videos look on a HDTV? Will Google change the encoding algorithm of YouTube’s videos to improve how they would look on a 50-inch screen?
Are we near the day where local cable and satellite TV technologies become obsolete? Probably, and Google will sure be there to cash in when it happens.
