Creating a New State of Matter – The Meisner Effect

January 2, 2008 by Geeks are Sexy | 0 comments

Here’s an interesting video in which you can see how certains sorts of ceramics are turned into superconductors when cooled to -200 degrees centigrade, effectively creating a new state of matter called the Meisner effect. If scientifics can find a way to raise the temperature at which this phenomenon occurs, the world of transport as we know it will be changed forever. Enjoy.
