Toyota iFoot: A Mech Warrior for the elderly

December 11, 2007 by Geeks are Sexy | 5 comments

After Apple, Cisco and many others, Toyota has also decided to jump on the “i” bandwagon with their new i-Foot mobility suit, a mobilized mech-like walking machine that was designed to carry disabled / elderly people around. Controlled by a joystick, this thing goes at the staggering top speed of 1 MPH. Check it out in <irony>full speed action</irony> in the following video.

I don’t think the tag is part of the W3C standards… :)

I didn’t see how the person got in or out of that thing. And what’s up with those crazy dancers?

What’s the point of that? This doesn’t seem practicle at all. And why are the dancers like that. Strange.

Strange? Yeah you can say that again. Well, when it comes to the Japanese, these kind of things happen all the time.. It seems that for them, having dancers move around a stupid robot is something that is perfectly normal :)

That’s freaky… If I see a handicapped man or woman wearing that and wandering the streets I’d definitely freak out and throw tantrums

Technology is really fast nowadays.Although it is the hi-tech age, Our sensitivity to our elders in need can be reflected on this Toyota invention.I salute the inventors of this machine
