The future for enterprise corporations will be to host their own online solution. You will see soon a "Google/Yahoo/MS/Whoever Apps Retail Edition" where the large corporation can host the online OS's/Office solutions within their own IT infrastructure. Thereby keeping the data "in-house". What we are seeing today is the development efforts of this type of system. The public is being used to perfect a product which can then be sold to enterprise corporations. I think you nailed it with your last paragraph. I still prefer to use OOo or Excel when I am doing, for example, my budget. I know Google "does no evil", but I still don't trust them. Now, Google's spreadsheet app was handy yesterday when I was doing some online research. I had the lappy open with Google up and then did the research on the desktop. Had the GF not come over to the computer, I could have just shared the Google Doc with her. -A Google Apps are good, but, not for anything serious.
