does anyone remember full service gas stations? you can still find them, but they are like the formerly omnipresent DRIVE IN THEATER. disappearing.
the options that business owners offer their patrons are determined by profits. automation increases profits, plaint and simple. our little preferences... our likes and dislikes form from the options for enjoyment that are provided in our environment. when automated restaurants become ubiquitous, when all restaurants are like this, our petty likes and dislikes, our "hey can you fetch me some napkins" will be irrelevant. we are all so self important. the machine is bigger than you. does anyone remember small family owned department stores? no.. all we have is walmart and cheap chinese crap... and you will either take it how they offer it or you will do without.
adapt or die.

Looks like something out of the Jetsons! That's crazy. I would have a problem with because you cannot ask your automated table any questions like, "have you tried the such and such and what did you think?" or "hey can you fetch me some extra napkins?" or "what's the best place in town to do xyz?" It's a novel idea, but you'll never be able to completely replace personal, human service.
