I don't think that applies inside of a business. The manager at the local movie theater said they are looking into them because of the complaints. Like someone said up above, yes movie theater run a clip telling everyone to turn off their phones but like red lights, they just ignore so hope they do. It seems like maybe Sam's Warehouse already have it in there building because as soon as you walk a few feet into their building the signal goes flat. And that's been true in every Sam's Club I have been in across the country. So I think they can be used in a business and should be where people pay good money to see a show without someone texting with a bright light shinning in your face!

I was thinking the same thing!
That DMV's should make it compulsary for vehicles to have this device installed in them, forcing people to have to stop their cars and get out if a emergency call needs to be made. Also would work well as a safety precaution in banks, not to mention libraries, city municipalities etc etc.

Devices like this (with a limited and practical range) SHOULD be available to the general public. Being forced to listen to loud and moronic conversations is annoying, to say the least!

Wow... there's a lot of angry, angry folks out there. The problem with movie theaters and the sign idea is that... they already do that! There is a video presentation at the beginning of every movie you'll go to that states you should turn off any cell phones or pagers.

Although jamming all of those signals would certainly be fun, I really don't think it promotes a very sane public interaction. It would almost be like Mel Gibson in Road Warrior and Thunderdome... everybody running around jamming phone signals and using jamming prevention devices and on and on the war would go.

I think a better option would be to build an gigantic EMP bomb that would wipe out all technology on the Earth. Then only the strong would survive... muahaha!

I don't know... it's a huge pain in the arse to listen to a dozen one-sided conversations while taking the train to and from work. One of these would really be handy. But it's the loud, musical ring tones that are most annoying, especially when some tosh lets his phone ring for 20 seconds before finally getting around to answering it.

Now, if someone could sell me a device that lets me selectively shut down someone's phone from doing anything at all, I'd buy it. I'm so tired of listening to some jackass's crappy MP3s playing through his mobile phone speaker. And if it worked effectively to shut down iPods, too -- because some morons have their music playing so loud through the headphones that it can be heard from twenty feet away -- well, that would be heaven. I may end up in jail someday for murdering an iPodiot... Please, technology guys, save me from jail.

its actually old tech.....they came out with theses about 4 years ago, and were going to install them in cinemas/hotels......the maker was sued and production was stopped as the FCC made a ruling that jammers were ILLEGAL to use. seems the airwaves are "owned" by the public a device that blocks use of those airwaves is "against the public good"....google for more info

This is extremely cool. I think that installing one on a car may be perfect it could be a force field against traffic accidents. And for only $200 Freaking fantastic! I wish they could make disposable ones at around $10 thank I would stick those on certain people's car and provably save thousands of lives.

The last time I heard of these they were being used by hotels so you couldnt use your mobile to phone out. Forcing you to use the hotel phones - at the huge inflated prices that they charge. Would be good for cinemas mind. I generally feel the need to hit the ignoramous with the mobile half way through films. AAARRRGGGGHHH. All we need is one to stop their screen glowing also and I can watch films in peace.
