Introducing world’s first robotic weight loss coach

August 16, 2007 by Geeks are Sexy | 1 comment

Researchers over at MIT Media Lab have recently developed a robotic weight loss coach that can keep track of your eating habits. The way it works is simple, you just enter the exercise program and diet information into the robot’s touch-screen interface and the machine will tell how to adjust your weight loss program so that you can meet your objectives.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if they would change the feminine voice over to the one used by HAL 9000 in 2001: A space odyssey?

Dave: “Hey HAL, give me a huge piece of that 5000 calorie pizza“.

HAL 9000: “I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid I just can’t do that. Can I offer you a rice cake instead?”

  1. Look kind of stupid to me… like a computer kiosk basically with a talking head. Of course I guess it is step forward for robotics to have these in homes and have people interacting with them.
