Google Calendar is really catching on – as is every other “Web 2.0″ application… The newest trend is to be able to easily view our online calendar entries on our mobile phones.

GCalSync is a mobile application that purports to do just this.

“Carry your Google Calendar in your pocket! GCalSync is an open source application that lets you do a two-way synchronization between Google Calendar and your phone’s built-in calendar. Download events to your phone, or add an event on your phone and upload it to Google Calendar.”

I tried this out on my BlackBerry 8703e, and it worked just fine for creating new events. However, I did have an issue when I updated an existing event with a new time, and my calendar entry was duplicated. I have read that other folks with regular mobile phones have it working without issue.

To install, visit http://wap.gcalsync.com with your phone’s browser.

Try it out for yourself and see what you think…please comment here with your results!

I had checked this out, but didn’t get too far with it, because the java client that I needed to install on my BlackBerry was not free. Is this still the case?

This was the only reason I didn’t include it in this post.
