Quick update on Google’s “Sicko” Controversy

June 30, 2007 by BrianBoyko |

I contacted Google’s PR department for an official statement on the “Sicko Post.”

 Here’s what I sent:

Hello.  My name is Brian Boyko.  I’m editor of Network Performance Daily as well as contributor to HardOCP and GeeksAreSexy.net.

I’d like to know more about the blog post on the Google Health Advertising Blog entitled “does negative press make you sicko,” before I report on it.  What is Google’s Blog Oversight policy?  Who writes it, who edits it, are there any conflicts of interest?  Why was the post written and does Google stand by the assertions made in the blog post?

I can be contacted at this e-mail address, at my work e-mail address [removed], or my cellphone at [removed].

Thank you.

– Brian Boyko

And here’s what I got back:

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your e-mail, and sorry about taking a while to get back to you.

The following can be attributed to a Google spokesperson:

“Google has no official opinion on Michael Moore or his movie ‘Sicko’.”

Thank you again,
– Oscar

Interesting response, Bryan. They completely skirted your questions. But what else should we expect from a huge corporation?

They wouldn’t be a big corporation if they didn’t follow the Ten Rules For Success

1. Never tell anyone everything you know.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

Number 7 and 10 are my favorites. PS: Never tell about your first $ million, but you can tell anything thereafter.
