Interesting. On what Apple has to offer, there is a "Library of Congress" demo in the recent Keynote at their dev conference. So, this is less impressive in that regard.

However, the linking and integration to online content is indeed super-cool and (I think) unique.

Somehow, I think we'll see more battles on the photo front between the two – and I am excited to benefit from it.

Hey Jim,

I think the problem of hidden pornography or the like is simply solved by marks, image recognition and technologies to control the content. Parents can choose, restrict and exclude certain content by some simple technologies available. So, I wouldn't fear for the young. Most important: Talk to and with your children about this, it is the best protection you can get. Even nowadays!

Nevertheless, this was a fantastic representation of what is coming next to our desktops. Can't wait!

Huh? The very example the speaker gave of Seadragon was a BMW ad in a British newspaper. Imagine ads that have extremely small scale pornography hidden in them (like the technical specs in the BMW ad). Parents would have to search forever to screen those kind of minute details from their children.

I think this is great technology and can;t wait for it to be widespread but like all technology it can also help people with less than pure motives. There is no need to deny that :-)

Hmmm, I don't think this is going to be use for advertisement and / or adult content..

The technology will be use to parse huge quantity of pictures and aggregate them together. You couldn't really use that in ads…

That is Crazy cool! It scares me a little. I can see great uses for it, but also see kids receiving even more influence by advertising/adult content etc..
