The shell is so much more powerful than cmd.exe (since that's almost useless except for deleting registry keys and ipconfig and ping) that instead of having to say "click the thing that looks like ___, no it's next to the one that looks like ____. You can't see it? It's a button that says ____!!" you can go "copy and paste this: 'sudo apt-get install 915resolution' into the terminal" and avoid trying to describe buttons. That was YOU that wrote the 30 days Ubuntu one? That was good :) I was surprised at the HP printer difficulties. I think there's a total of 11 HP printers that don't work with Linux. Kind of weird about how there's a fix and Ubuntu doesn't use it... (Looking back at that article) You may want to try out 7.04. Installing Beryl has become a matter of "sudo aptitude install beryl" which can be done with Synaptic and Add/Remove but well...I don't use those because I don't like waiting for the GUI to load and search and whatnot. Kiba Dock is better than the GDesklets Gnome Bar. GDesklets kind of suck because they almost always run behind your programs and their transparency is "funny" (shows desktop instead of whatever window's behind it when you pop them to the front). The codec issues are taken care of in 7.04 as well. Add/Remove contains 4 packages (I think) which if you install all 4, you have all the codecs you could ever need. I find it weird that you had to do manual editing to rip mp3s because all I had to do was install mp3 support.
