We purchased an expensive Samsung LCD TV on 13th May’07 worth INR 59000.00 from Hypercity, Malad(West), Mumbai. Since last evening whenever we switch it on, the display dissappears within 2-5 seconds. The sound is working and continues while the whole screen go off and there is no display. We contacted the helpline and there-after an engineer from service station had contacted and come. What he told after inspection has totally shattered us and we are in deep shock. According to him the part number BN07-00453A, LCD Panel has to be replaced and according to his paper, the estimation sheet cost will be INR 26951. We cant beleive that a company like Samsung can sell such a bad quality equipment to their customers and that too after charging large amount of INR 59000. Being in the salaried class, we simply cannot not afford to spend such an exorbitant amount on the panel. It looks like this is a common way to fetch money from customers by providing them bad quality products and then charging huge amount on spare parts and services. The expensive LCD TV has turned into garbage before even completing 2 years. We purchased the best available model, both in terms of , price as well as quality and that too from the most prestigious store in the town and had never ever thought in our dreams that Samsung will provide us with such an inferior quality product. If your curious to see your FW number… on the remote, click on Menu..
Select Setup.. select function help… highlight “On” and click on “Info” on your remote.
On the second line, it says 1004 on mine and the current version is 1016.

I’ve heard that depending on your FW, you may be able to see your FW version just by going to setup..

I had this TV since May 2007 and have loved it so for far… BUT here are issues I’ve encountered…
1. Scan mode does have that issue with bottom row of pixels (it’s fine since I run 16×9 all the time)
2. Ghosting (it’s not my primary TV, so I’m okay with it)
3. Audio drop using HDMI… randomly, the audio drops (HD Cable, DVD & Apple TV) and I have to turn the TV off and on to get the sound back. It’s really annoying. I recently found out that the firmware I’m running is not up to date FW# 1002. I just got off the phone w/ a Samsung tech who is sending me the latest firmware upate FW# 1016.

I hope this corrects this issue with the latest FW update. If you do a search, there are a lot of people reporting the same issues even w/ the latest FW update. I’ve seen the 3242 AND 3253 have had these issues.

I’ll post my findings after the update.

Question for fellow LN-T3242H owners: When I select “Picture” from the menu and try to adjust the Brightness, it reverts back to the “default” setting after about 40 minutes. Is there a way to PERMANENTLY set the Brightness? I didn’t see anything in the manual. Thank you!

yes, this model has a built-in hd tuner, so you can just hook it up to your hd-ready antenna and its ready to go.

I’ve heard that the picture on this set is great right from the box to cable even without HD paraphenalia. Not my experience. Got it last week and haven’t yet done any cable upgrades. The picture is pretty bad, really. More like an inpressionist painting that anything. Could it be that my set is a lemon?

I have a similar problem in the just scan mode. The bottom row of pixels on the screen are not where they are supposed to be. They are shifted half way accross the screen. Very annoying when watching. The pixels appear to be moving allong the bottom. The 16X9 mode and others are fine. Does the picture need to be centred on the screen?

Just bought this TV for $710 from Circuit City…they matched the price Elecronics Expo had on their website. Can’t beat that price from a reputable retailer! Great features, great quality, great price!
