The accused might claim freedom of speech but the only desired outcome is to embarrass and hurt the feelings of the targeted teacher or administrator. If you believe in these statements so strongly, why don't you walk through the hallways yelling "Mr. Smith molests little boys"? I'm guessing it's because a) you know it's not true and b) you thought you wouldn't possibly be caught by using MySpace. I don't blame the parents for trying to protect their child's academic future but I'm sure they know it's wrong. To a certain extent, kids will be kids, but I'm sure there are many victims of cyber bullies hoping an example is made in this case. This is a form of bullying and it shouldn’t be tolerated. If there is "reasonable doubt" that you might be saying the truth (as in, if you don't know if it's true or not but have cause to believe it's true), it's legal, but if you are simply mudslinging, it's libel.
