Top 10 Best Wordpress Plugins

April 2, 2007 by Kiltak |

WordpressLoyal reader Richard sent us an email yesterday asking about what Wordpress plugins we were using on [GAS], so I decided to write a post compiling my 10 favorite ones to answer his question. Like most Wordpress plugins, the ones we’re using are all free and easy to install.

-Adsense-Deluxe
Allows you to quickly place Google AdSense ads in your WordPress template and posts. Very useful.

-Akismet
Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. [GAS] 2.0 has only been running for a month and akismet has already caught over 2000 spam comments. Up to now, it has only missed 2.

-Brian’s Latest Comments
This plugin allows you to show an overview of the recently active articles and the last people to comment on them.

-Brian’s Threaded Comments
Brian’s Threaded Comments gives you the possibility of threading the comments at the bottom of your posts.

-Compact Monthly Archive
Great little add-on that lets you displays a compact monthly archive. No need to display the huge default one anymore.

-Feedburner Feed Replacement
The Feedburner Feed Replacement plugin will forward all feed traffic to Feedburner while letting through some important User-Agents.

-Google Sitemaps
This generator will create a Google compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog.

-Optimal Title
Mirrors the function of wp_title() exactly, but moves the position of the ’separator’ to after the title rather than before. This will cause Wordpress to display your blog name after your page title. A must have for all you SEO dudes out there.

-Secure and Accessible PHP Contact Form
This powerful yet easy-to-install contact form features exceptional accessibility and usability while still providing extensive anti-spam and anti-exploit security features. A marriage of communication and peace-of-mind.

-WordPress Database Backup
Automated or on-demand backup solution for your wordpress database. Don’t leave home without it!

-WP-Cache
WP-Cache is a very fast cache module that will allow you to speed-up access to your site when under heavy load.

Here you go Richard. I hope you will find something that will be of use to you in this list. Here are other Wordpress plugins ressources that might be of interest to you:

I love WP Cache & Secure and Accessible PHP Contact Form.

Since the day I’ve installed WP Cache on my blog, I can sleep well in nights!
